The Levant Files (TLF) is an independent, Cyprus-based digital news and analysis platform established in 2025.
TLF follows the political, diplomatic, social, economic and security developments shaping the Levant, the Eastern Mediterranean and their wider neighbourhood. Our coverage extends from Cyprus, Turkey, Greece and the Middle East to developments in Europe, the Caucasus and beyond when they directly affect the region.
Our aim is straightforward: to provide readers with timely information, informed analysis and perspectives that contribute to a deeper understanding of one of the world's most complex regions.
Our Editorial Approach
The Levant Files combines news reporting, analysis, commentary, translations and reviews of regional and international media.
We seek to distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion or analysis. Where information originates from another news organisation, official statement, research institution or other external source, TLF identifies and attributes that source. Claims that cannot be independently verified are presented as such.
TLF also publishes contributions from scholars, journalists, researchers and independent writers. The opinions expressed in signed commentary and guest contributions belong to their authors and do not necessarily represent the editorial position of The Levant Files.
Our editorial approach is based on independence, transparency, accuracy and respect for the complexity of the societies and conflicts we cover.

Dr. Nikolaos Stelgias — Founder and Chief Editor
Dr. Nikolaos Stelgias is a journalist, historian, writer and researcher based in Cyprus. His work focuses particularly on Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean and the wider Middle East.
He founded The Levant Files as an independent platform bringing together journalism, regional expertise and analysis while providing space for different perspectives on developments affecting the Levant and its neighbouring regions.
Editorial Team: The Levant Files
TLF also welcomes contributions from external writers and specialists. Articles by contributors are identified by the author's name wherever applicable.
Languages
The Levant Files publishes and works across several of the principal languages of the region, including English, Greek, Turkish, Arabic and Persian.
This multilingual approach allows TLF to follow debates and sources that often remain confined within separate linguistic and national information environments.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Levant Files uses contemporary digital and artificial-intelligence tools as part of its editorial workflow.
