More than 100 representatives and scholars from both nations gathered to witness the unveiling, an event designed to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between two of the world’s most ancient civilizations.
According to a report by CCTV English, the launch of the Greek edition of 'Xi Jinping: The Governance of China' in Athens serves as a crucial platform for dialogue and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. Attendees emphasized that by sharing governance experiences, China and Greece are enhancing mutual understanding and building consensus. This exchange offers fresh ideas for expanding practical cooperation and adds momentum to the steady growth of bilateral relations.
During the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Greece Fang Qiu described the book as a "new bridge" for cultural exchange. He noted that the text reveals the philosophical foundations of China’s governance, helping Greek readers understand the nation's development path and its commitment to openness. Xie Gang, vice president of the China International Communications Group, added that the publication illustrates China’s approach to comprehensive reform and dialogue in the new era.
High-ranking Greek officials warmly welcomed the release. Ioannis Tragakis, chairman of the Greece-China Friendship Group in the Greek parliament, recalled his 2019 meeting with President Xi and highlighted that concepts like "ecological civilization" offer vital guidance for current global challenges. Former Greek Foreign Minister George Katrougalos praised the work for outlining a vision of stability and development grounded in multilateralism.
The event concluded with expert discussions on green development and the Belt and Road Initiative. To date, the book has been translated into 44 languages and distributed in over 180 countries.
