Iranian source speaking exclusively to The Levant Files calls on regional nations to reject what Tehran describes as a war “imposed” by the US and Israel, warns UK involvement risks escalation
An Iranian source has reached out to The Levant Files on the condition of anonymity to deliver a pointed message aimed at the peoples of Cyprus, Turkey and Greece, amid the escalating military confrontation between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran does not have any difference with the people of Cyprus, Turkey and Greece that it wants to solve via war,” the source stated, setting the tone for a message that combined diplomatic reassurance with a sharp denunciation of Washington and Tel Aviv.
“War Was Imposed on Us”
The source painted a picture of a country that had been actively pursuing diplomacy before the current hostilities erupted. According to the Iranian interlocutor, Tehran’s diplomats had been engaged in negotiations with their American counterparts, with Omani mediators facilitating the process, in an effort to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing diplomatic standoff.
However, the source alleged that Israel’s government – which the source repeatedly referred to as an “illegitimate regime” with an “extremist government” – had succeeded in steering the American military apparatus against Iran, effectively torpedoing the diplomatic track.
The source went on to describe devastating consequences of the ensuing military operations, citing the killing of Iran’s religious leader and military commanders, as well as large numbers of civilian casualties. In particularly stark terms, the source referenced what was described as a massacre at a school. “Only in one school humanity witnessed a massacre,” the source said.
Iran Claims Significant Damage to Adversaries
Framing Iran’s military response as an act of legitimate self-defense, the source claimed that the Islamic Republic has inflicted significant damage on its adversaries. “We have already given significant damage to the enemy,” the source stated, adding that casualties and losses sustained by the United States and Israel are being deliberately concealed by international media.
Sharp Warning Over UK Involvement
In a notable escalation of rhetoric, the Iranian source took direct aim at the United Kingdom. Referring to a recent announcement by the British Prime Minister, the source dismissed it as “not only meaningless” but warned that it “has the potential to give to an ongoing conflict new dimensions.” The statement suggests that Tehran views any British involvement or posturing as a dangerous escalation that could widen the theatre of conflict.
Appeal to the Peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean
The source concluded with a direct appeal to the peoples of Cyprus, Turkey and Greece, reiterating that Iran harbours no hostility toward them. The message carried a clear request: that the citizens of these nations “continue to reject the war that has been imposed on us and create a front of opposition to the US-illegitimate regime front.”
The appeal appears designed to drive a wedge between the peoples of Iran’s neighbouring region and the Western-Israeli alliance, framing the conflict not as one between nations but between peoples who seek peace and governments that wage war.
